Shopify for Japan / market entry

Build your Shopify foundation for Japan.

PPP helps overseas brands localise their Shopify storefront, product information, payments, fulfilment and operating workflow for Japanese customers.

Fit before scale

Should your brand enter Japan now?

There is no single route into the Japanese market. The right approach changes with your category, price point, production capacity, fulfilment setup and the position you want your brand to occupy.

01 / PRODUCT

Product and category fit

We look at what you sell, how it is made, and whether its value can be communicated clearly to Japanese customers.

02 / POSITION

Price and brand positioning

We consider pricing, comparable offers and the context your brand needs—without flattening what makes it distinctive.

03 / OPERATIONS

Fulfilment and support

Shipping, lead times, returns and customer communication must be realistic for a small team to maintain. We can research and recommend suitable fulfilment partners; contracts remain directly between the brand and the provider.

04 / READINESS

Start now—or prepare first

Sometimes the best first step is a marketplace test. Sometimes it is localisation, research or improving your own store before launch.

Japanese sales channels

Choose the right Shopify and marketplace mix.

Your Shopify store can become the centre of your Japan operation, with selected Japanese marketplaces used where they fit your category, positioning and available resources.

Creema logo

Creema

A major Japanese marketplace for handmade and creative products. Fit depends on category, presentation and seller requirements.

minne logo

minne

A broad handmade marketplace with a large local audience. Product storytelling and Japanese-language merchandising matter.

iichi logo

iichi

A curated-feeling marketplace associated with craft, design and considered making. Positioning and imagery are especially important.

Shopify logo

Shopify

A Japan-ready Shopify store gives you control over Japanese content, yen pricing, customer information, analytics and the operating workflow behind each order.

Marketplace eligibility, identity verification, payments, domestic contact requirements and fulfilment conditions vary. We check the current requirements for your location and business before recommending a route.

Scope and third-party services: Final pricing depends on product volume, localisation scope, theme customisation and required integrations. PPP defines fulfilment requirements, researches and compares suitable providers, makes recommendations and supports introductions. The brand contracts directly with the selected provider. Advertising spend, photography, creators, paid apps and other third-party costs are quoted separately. USD figures are indicative; final invoicing terms are confirmed in the proposal.

FROM THE OPERATOR’S SIDE

Advice grounded in running a product brand.

PPP is led by the operator of PSNY, an independent Japanese fashion and accessories brand. Our perspective comes from organising products, maintaining a multilingual Shopify store and working with domestic and overseas sales channels—not from strategy alone.

We use AI where it helps with drafting, transformation and checking, while important decisions about pricing, inventory, publishing and customer communication remain human-reviewed.
